About David Bishop
I am retired and well past 60. I live in the wonderful county of Norfolk in the UK which offers great inspiration for both Artists and Photographers with its Broads and Coastline. My wife and I also have use of the family house in Marbella Spain as often as we like so this offers more inspiration for my painting and photography.
Although always having an interest in art and photography, I did not take it up until around 2004 after being bought some art material for Christmas. After about a year I decided I needed to understand a bit more about what I was trying to do so a took an art course with the Cheltenham Art College. I had never considered exhibiting or selling my art until my wife persuaded me to take some of my paintings to a local craft fair. The comments I received from people were all positive and I sold two paintings. I now exhibit regularly in and around Norfolk & Suffolk.
In 2013 I somehow found myself becoming drawn to photography, I have always liked taking photographs but only for reference for my paintings or family holidays and special occasions. After a comment made by my daughter on a particular photograph, I was once again persuaded to show some of my photographs. Having done so my wife decided she liked the idea of me becoming a photographer more than an artist as it meant I could store my photographic work on my computer, unlike my paintings which are stored all around the house.
I am still learning and experimenting with my photography as I am with my art, but when things go wrong with a photograph I can just delete it from the memory card or my computer hard drive with no loss other than time, unlike painting which can be a little more costly.
You can still see some of my art work here as I still paint from time to time. One of things I have been experimenting with is Acrylic Flow Art which I have found very interesting.
